What exactly is barre? And how is Barre different to any other style of exercise?
Barre is a 60 minute workout combining pilates, ballet and yoga. Using isometric movements with the power of music to increase strength, flexibility, stamina and dynamic stability. It is a class geared for everyone not matter age or fitness level—no ballet experience required! As long as you can hold a ballet barre, you can do Barre. That’s not to say that it’s easy, your first class will likely feel challenging at times, but we encourage you to stick with it. Try your hardest and let loose and feel free to ask your instructor plenty of questions after class if you weren’t clear on any of the moves.
What are the benefits?
Those tiny movements can help you get stronger. The isometric contractions that make up the bulk of a barre class occur when the muscle tenses without changing length. Think of these movements as the opposite of typical strength training moves (or concentric and eccentric contractions), which occur when a muscle stretches then shortens (as in a biceps curl). Isometric exercise is agreat way to maintain muscle strength.
You’ll target multiple muscle groups at once which increases your heart rate as more muscles are working. You’ll improve your mind-body connection. The smaller movements in a barre class can bring a new level of awareness to the body that you don’t get in regular strength workouts
Depending on your body type and fitness level, you’ll see and feel changes in your weight and body shape in three weeks to three months, though making a major change in your body and losing a significant amount of weight could take more than a year. All that hard work will pay off, though.Ourclientsdevelop a natural youthfulness, power, and grace, and wonderful, natural posture and a lifted derrierefrom classes.
